I booked this airbnb, specifically for the design and decor. As a tourist, there was no real reason to book in University City besides for, what I thought, was a beautiful airbnb. The listing states it is a Brooklyn themed unit. However, most of the decor and furniture that was brooklyn themed was replaced by cheap and basic items. Ex. the couch, curtains and rugs. The place looked drab and the decor/colours did not look good together and were not on theme. It looked like someone went thrifting and grabbed whatever they could find. Also, the instructions state that your airbnb electronic lock will automatically lock behind you which is not the case. I slept the entire first night with the door unlocked. There is a mechanical lock that you can turn, but it makes the same noise whether it’s locked or unlocked, the only way to find out is to try it from the outside as the door opens regardless from the inside. Other than that, it was clean, well maintained and checking in and out was easy
The space was nice and well decorated. We especially liked the walk in shower. The AC worked well in the blistering heat. The only reason we didn’t give 5 stars is because the place smelled like cigarette smoke when we walked in but thankfully you couldn’t smell it in the bedroom where we mostly stayed. All in all a great spot for our one day trip in Philly!
meets expectations! a surprisingly quiet place to crash very close to Clark Park etc., lots of restaurants in walking distance, great AC units in bedroom and living room that kept me cool during a few days of humid sticky hot summer. ran out of soap, messaged Qi, learned where new soap was quickly and easily.
